This is one of the more stunning cameos I've come across. It is in beautiful condition for its age. The shell cameo features a beautiful lady. The artist of this piece has incorporated some great attention to detail in this brooch. There is a swivel pendant bail that can be tucked under when worn as a brooch or lifted up if worn as a pendant. There are 3 small bead pearls accenting the piece.
The brooch measures about 1 3/8 by just under 1 1/8" and is a hefty 5.9 grams total weight. While there is no gold purity marks, I guarantee this to be at least solid 10k gold. Prior to 1907's stamp act, gold pieces in the US were not required to be marked. This piece is consistent in every way with this era.
