This is such a cool ring! This antique treasure, circa late teens-20's (by historical guesstimate) ... This ring correlates closer to the 1910 sighting of Halley's Comet, than 1986, and not consistent with jewelry productions from the 1835. Comet motifs have become popular around the times of their sightings, when interest peaked.
The focus is this faceted bottom, buff top, natural amethyst (12.65mm) that really brings out the pleochroism (multiple hues) of various purples. Because of the age of this ring, you can imagine there is some typical wear. There are going to be surface abrasions, small pits, and inclusions. The rhodium plating over the sterling silver has held up well. There is no visible marking of metal content but I guarantee it.
